Every year, Nike announces a plethora of sneakers that celebrate South Korea’s rich culture and heritage, and it looks like they’ll be doing the same in 2023 with the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 “Hangul Day.” Nodding to the Asian country’s historic alphabet system, it does so in a clean and minimal fashion that makes a statement by being understated.
Featuring a crisp white mesh base, it’s overlaid by light brown suede panels that go around the mudguard, midfoot, and heel panels. A Swoosh glides gracefully across the lateral and medial sidewalls in a beautiful “Sail” hue, and just in case one tick wasn’t enough, the American sportswear company has embroidered another one towards the front of the shoe.
Debossed with purpose and respect, Hangul characters for “Nike” find their place at the rear of the left trainer. With the right one, on the other hand, is the “Est. 72” label, which nods to the year that the Beaverton-based company was founded. These details are then mirrored on the accompanying square hangtag that has been made specifically for this very special release.
Expected to release on October 6th, make sure you keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop the Nike Air Max 1 “Hangul Day” FQ8150-133. Rumour has it that these will launch as part of a much wider collection, so stay tuned.
