Glow-in-the-Dark Details Give the Air Jordan 5 “Halloween” a Subtle Spooky Touch

The Air Jordan 5 Retro “Halloween” makes its seasonal theme work through the shoe’s existing design. In daylight, it is a predominantly black Air Jordan 5 with sharp red accents. Once the light fades, its branding and outsole reveal the Halloween treatment. That gives the pair a reason to exist beyond a colour scheme you might wear for one night.

Nike describes the upper as black nubuck, a softly textured leather. Dark laces, netted panels and a padded collar keep the bulky 1990 silhouette visually contained. Picante Red then picks out the jagged shapes along the midsole, drawing attention to one of the Jordan 5’s most recognisable features. The colour reads more like an ember against the black than a full orange Halloween makeover.

Playful details give this colourway a hidden edge. Green outlines the Jumpman, heel ’23’, and Nike Air logo. They all glow in the dark alongside the translucent outsole. The icy sole gives off a clean, unexpected pop in the light, giving you a dark, mysterious look without any over-the-top costume graphics.

That restraint suits the model. The AJ5 already has an expressive shape, from its netted sides to its high collar and pointed midsole accents. In case you needed more convincing, Nike says this Air Jordan 5 “Halloween” release retains those elements of the original 1990 build.

Nike SNKRS lists an October 17th US release at $215. The UK release calendar currently lists October 24th at £190; UK retailer prices and launch dates have yet to be confirmed directly, so treat that listing as provisional.
