Nike is Relaunching Kobe Bryant’s Signature Line

Ahead of Mamba Day on August 24th, Nike has revealed that they will be relaunching Kobe Bryant’s signature sneaker line. This announcement follows the news that Vanessa Bryant, the Kobe Bryant Foundation, and Nike renewed their contract in 2022.

The relaunching of the Nike Kobe series indicates that there will be more quantities in the future. While the American sportswear company has not officially disclosed which shoes will release, various reliable sources already have images and mockups of the upcoming 2023 collection. So let’s check them out below!

Kobe 8 Protro “Triple White” FJ9364-100

This sneaker will headline the celebration of Mamba Day. The Nike Kobe 8 Protro updates the popular basketball trainer from 2012 by adding more padding on the tongue. This version will also feature a React midsole and embedded Zoom Air underfoot. The release marks the first retro run of the Kobe 8 after being last seen in 2016.

Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Reverse Grinch” FV4921-600

Arguably the most anticipated Kobe release in 2023, the Nike Kobe 6 “Reverse Grinch” was a Player Exclusive colourway for LA Lakers star Anthony Davis. He wore the shoe in 2021 and made many basketball fans intrigued. Basketball players love this model for its comfort and performance, while resellers love it because of its resale value.

Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Black Gold” FQ3544-001

There’s another Nike Kobe 4 Protro following the release of the “Mambacita” earlier in 2023. This rendition sports an all-black construction with gold detailing on the Swoosh and Kobe Bryant logos. We can expect the sneaker to look similar to this mockup. Rumours speak of a Holiday 2023 release.

Kobe 8 Protro “Court Purple” FQ3549-191

Set for an early 2024 release, a new Kobe 8 Protro colourway emerges. This rendition stays true to the the Los Angeles Lakers, and features a white and purple colour combination. The trainer is similar to the TB (Team Bank) colourways that usually come in two-tone styles. Just like the “Triple White,” we can expect this shoe to have a React drop-in midsole with an embedded Zoom Air unit.

Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Radiant Emerald” FQ3549-100

One of the things that made Nike Kobe sneakers different is the storytelling. Most colourways are inspired by just about anything. The Kobe 8 usually took inspiration from different species of snakes. This colourway presents a simple white engineered mesh base with emerald green pigments on the Swoosh, laces, lining, and outsole. Typical Kobe 8 design elements such as Kobe’s signature on the heel counter and Braille messages on the midsole remain.

The Bottom Line

Nike’s initiative to fully relaunch the Kobe line is great news for his fans and basketball players all over the world. Everybody loved Nike Kobes back then because of the impressive colourways, and they were usually available in stores. We can expect more colourways to emerge as we begin a whole new era of the Nike Kobe signature line, starting on Mamba Day 2023.
