We thought the Air Max‘s 35th and Air Force 1‘s 40th anniversaries were the biggest sneaker news this year. But then all eyes and ears shifted to one surprising report; the long-awaited return of the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 in the OG Chicago colourway arrives. However, sources state that it’s a “reimagined” version – with details pointing close to a vintage look and an improved toebox.
Regardless of the current details surrounding the release, the hype levels will be next level once we get an official announcement. First to share this news is @zsneakerheadz – who is usually a reliable source. The latest build-up indicates an October 29, 2022 release; contrary to the Holiday 2022 launch rumoured.
Take note that the images below are from the OG Air Jordan 1 High “Chicago” from 1985.
To give context, the last Air Jordan 1 High “Chicago” release dates back to 2015. While the 2022 reissue leans more to the ’85 edition which boasts a higher cut, we’re still eager to know if we’re getting the exact colour blocking. For possible reference about what to expect, you may base on the recent Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Georgetown”.
We’re not yet sure on how the “vintage” details will play out, but it’s probably going to be emphasising on yellowed midsoles or tongue.
The OG Air Jordan 1 High “Chicago” features a leather upper, nylon, tongue, and rubber cupsole. Red makes up the toe, eyestay, and heel panels; while White accents appear on the vamp, quarter, and tongue. Hints of black adorn the Swooshes, laces, and ankle collar.
We’ll keep you posted for updates as we wait for official images and release details. We definitely hope it’s a 1-of-1 version or at least close to the OG.
Hyped for this one to say the least!
