ACG Torre

Nike’s ACG Torre Mid, originally released in 1995, is back this year, tapping into the current craze for outdoor and hiking looks. This reissue isn’t just a nod to the past; it’s an opportunity for Nike to revisit and refresh some of its classic, hardy designs like the Caldera and Baltoro, offering a familiar yet updated style to sneaker fans.

The 2023 ACG Torre Mid stays true to its roots while sporting some fresh updates. The design mixes thick mesh and suede overlays, maintaining the sneaker-like feel of the original. In a subtle shift from the past, the new version features a smaller, embroidered Swoosh rather than the larger one seen on the original. Key elements like Nike branding on the tongue, the ACG logo on the heel, the practical rear pull tab, and the tough, lugged outsole ready for rough terrain remain unchanged.

These boots embody what Nike’s ACG line is all about: gear that can handle any conditions. The Torre Mid sneakers come with waterproof uppers and a solid tread, making them both functional and good-looking, complete with the distinctive black Swoosh and ACG branding.

Back in ’95, the ACG Torre Mid used waxed split leather and textured nylon mesh in its upper, as detailed in a Nike catalog from that year. The catalog described the boot as perfect for outdoor hiking, featuring details like thermoplastic lace hooks, a comforting EVA midsole, a stabilizing steel shank, and a sole made from eco-friendly Nike Regrind rubber.

All in all, the 2023 version of the ACG Torre Mid brings together the best of the 90s with modern enhancements. It offers a rugged but stylish choice for sneaker fans, paying respect to its outdoor roots while fitting in just right with today’s streetwear trends.
