Air Max 720

Nike goes full circle twice with the Air Max 720 (no pun intended). The brand looked for a new way to soar with all-new Air Max models. And the solution? A bigger Air unit, something never seen on any previous Air Max trainer. The Nike Air Max 720 one-upped the Air Max 270 and went with a large full-length bubble.

Unveiled in 2019, the Air Max 720 boasted the largest Air unit of its time. The 720 name represents the 360-degree visibility of the Air unit, that’s how large it was! The upper features mesh with zonal overlays for durability. Its sharp and streamlined construction also looked like it took inspiration from the iconic Air Max 97.

Since its release, multiple colourways inspired by various themes came out. However, most people still say the OG Northern Lights colourway inspired by the Aurora Borealis remains the best style.

Unlike the AM97 there’s more Air than foam surrounding the midsole. This results in a bouncy sensation that gives you spring and impact protection on every step.

Nike released a bunch of colourways in the next few years but eventually slowed down. However, we still see the AM720 as a vital piece of Nike history thanks to its large unit. This gave the brand an idea of how big an Air bubble can get!
