React Element 55

With this extremely comfortable shoe, you can always be in your element! Nike showcased their development once again with the unveiling of the React foam technology. While it didn’t really pan out when it debuted on the HyperDunk 2017, the brand eventually found its groove. And the Nike React Element 55 (and 87) can be credited for bringing out the best of React.

The Nike React Element 55 first came out in 2018 as the more widely available version of the Element 87. Both pairs are really identical, except the 87 features a see-through textile upper and a cork sockliner. However, in terms of comfort, there is no astronomical difference between the two.

This futuristic shoe takes its name from the element Caesium, which is literally element 55 in the periodic table. The design took some inspiration from the Nike Internationalist, a vintage running shoe, but everything else is fresh to the eyes.

Mesh makes up the upper of the shoe, while textile and suede overlays reinforce the thin fabric. It’s lightweight and comfortable nonetheless. The thin asymmetrical tongue also boasts Nike React branding for that unique look.

React foam comprises the entirety of the sole. This setup is bouncy and brings you tons of comfort and impact protection. There are traction pods all over the rubber outsole and midsole to ensure grip on most surfaces. This rugged pattern became the main highlight of the shoe because of how different it is.
