Nike combined the most innovative Air Max from the 90s and the most innovative Air Max in the 2010s. This resulted in the creation of the Nike VaporMax Plus – a hybrid model of the VaporMax and Air Max Plus. It’s a great lifestyle shoe if you’re not a fan of the sock-like uppers of the VaporMax!
Combining different models into one is not a rare occurrence in the Air Max line. As a matter of fact, this was prevalent when Nike brought out a bunch of fusion silhouettes involving the Swoosh and Jordan Brand.
The Nike VaporMax Plus seamlessly brings a fresh aesthetic to the VaporMax roster. When Nike launched the VaporMax in 2017, a new model came out annually.
The VaporMax Plus debuted in 2018 and features a more supportive upper compared to the Flyknit construction of the original silhouette.
Mesh makes up the upper of the shoe, while TPU finger overlays seen on the Tuned 1 reinforce the body. This TPU panel also serves as a lace cage to keep the foot locked down inside the shoe.
A mini Swoosh appears on the rear, similar to the Air Max 95 Swoosh placement.
This shoe boasts a lot of support thanks to the whale’s tail midfoot shank and the PU midsole. Below is the Air Sole unit popularised by the VaporMax.
The VaporMax Plus is a great option if you need torsional support without compromising the unique cushioning experience of a regular VaporMax.
