When it comes to showing your sneakers a little TLC, Crep Protect is probably the best in the business. World-renowned for legendary products like the Cure Kit and the Spray, the company recently unleashed the Crep Protect Foam X into the world. According to the brand themselves, it’s meant to effortlessly lift dirt and cut cleaning time in half. It’s also apparently safe for the environment too, which is always nice to know. So, in this in-depth review, we’ll be diving straight into it and asking the all-important question: does the Crep Protect Foam X really work? Let’s find out!
To give a decent test, we’ve been walking around in the wind and the rain all January wearing the Nike Air Max 1 “Obsidian Big Bubble” – one of our favourite sneakers of 2023. They went through a lot over the past month, and now, they needed some serious TLC.
The great thing about using Foam X on this Air Max 1 is that it’s made up of a bunch of vastly different fabrics and textiles. The base, for example, is crafted from an intricate mesh construction that’s super breathable, and it’s overlaid by different textures of suede, both across the sidewalls and around the mudguard. The tongue is also decked out in nylon, and the midsole is fitted with an even chunkier Air bubble, so we’ll have even more materials to test it out on.
To start things off, we removed bits of dirt and debris using our trusty brush. After we got rid of most of it, we jumped straight into the Crep Protect Foam X. Spraying it across the upper and the sole unit, it comes out in a crazy purple colour that just looks wild. This eventually transforms into white once it’s worked its magic.
Next step, we used a damp cloth to wipe off any of the foam. Then – as if by magic – 99% of the dirt was completely gone. This entirely process only took a matter of seconds, and you’re left with a pair of trainers that look totally boxfresh. If your kicks are still a little wet, make sure you air dry them so that the materials aren’t affected and the shoes themselves don’t lose their shape.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a cleaning solution that’s effective and works extremely well in next to no time, we’d definitely recommend the Crep Protect Foam X. Your sneakers will thank you, and because the bottle is made from recyclable HDPE, the environment will, too.
