First Look at the Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 ’86

After taking on the Air Humara LX and the Air Force 1 (in the form of the J Force 1), it looks like Jacquemus has even more sneaker heat up its sleeve as we take our first look at the Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 ’86. A collaboration that was confirmed in a recent GQ interview, make sure you read on to find out everything that we know so far.

Revealed in two colourways including a white pair and a silver one, the French label’s take on the Tinker Hatfield icon is exactly what you’d expect. Crafted from premium leather throughout, it’s decorated with perforations across the lateral and medial sidewalls for a brogue-like aesthetic – nodding to its menswear line that was just showcased in Paris last month. The legendary Nike Swoosh has also been replaced with a tiny metal one, and the suede mudguards have been retooled so that they slightly overlap the toebox, resulting in a sartorial streetwear kind of vibe.

All of this is awesome, but what makes these Air Max 1s even better is the double-stacked midsole that has been swiped straight off of the “Big Bubble.” The Air unit is now twice as large, meaning you should expect twice the comfort and twice the cushioning. Jacquemus’ logo is finely debossed around the heel, and each pair comes packed with a special hangtag that has been made exclusively for this release. This accessory is crafted from the same luxurious materials, and is surrounded by intricate stitching – inspired by Simon Porte Jacquemus’ love of classic craftsmanship and traditional tailoring.

Set to release sometime this spring, rumour has it that a third Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 ’86 could also be in the works, so make sure you keep it locked at Captain Creps for all of the latest updates.
