Marking four decades of Air Jordan, “The Classic” has been unveiled and it’s looking like their best in years. Coming in as the 40th anniversary pair, it’s not a standard anniversary edition. It’s the first-ever Jordan to combine full-length ZoomX foam with a stacked Zoom Strobel unit.
The upper brings it back to basics. Premium eco-leather and suede create a clean look in black, white, and vast grey. Logos stay subtle—just a Jumpman on the tongue and “Nike Air” on the heel tab. It’s court-ready without the flash.
Performance-wise, this one steps things up. A redesigned lacing system as well as internal straps for additional lock-in. The sculpted midsole adds support without bulk, while the diamond-patterned outsole keeps grip consistent.
There’s a nod to the past, too. You’ll spot elements borrowed from the Air Jordan 10 and AJ39, reworked just slightly. The heel gets a touch of contrast with speckled TPU, but the real highlight is underfoot: a cushioning setup that feels more like a marathon shoe than a traditional basketball sneaker.
Whether you’re after all-day comfort or a piece of Jordan history, the AJ40 finds a sweet spot between performance and simplicity. This is how you mark 40 years—quiet confidence and serious bounce.
Dropping on July 12th and already live at the Nike site, let us know if you’ll be adding these to your rotation, and be sure to keep it locked for your best chance to secure your size!
