How To Cop The Nike Dunk Low Panda “By You”

Love them or hate them, the Nike Dunk Low Panda has absolutely dominated the sneaker industry in the last few years in, taking position as one of the most popular mainstream Dunk releases of all time.

Despite this popularity, the Nike Dunk Low “Panda” still remains difficult to cop during the limited restocks we see at the likes of Nike, JD or Foot Locker. Despite Nike stocking thousands of pairs, supply just can’t meet demand and we see sell outs in minutes.

Not to worry, there is another option! The Nike Dunk Low “Panda” can be created via the Nike Dunk Low “By You” custom options, along with a number of other high heat options.

This short article takes a look at how to pick up this colourway in your size, with ease, every single day.

What is the Nike Dunk Low “By You”?

The Nike Dunk Low “By You” is the new name for Nike’s ID series. Using custom tools at the Nike site, you can create custom pairs of their most popular pairs, including the Nike Dunk Low. Using thirteen customisation options. You can play around with the Toe and Tongue, Quarter, Swoosh and Backtab, Heel, Collar, Eyestay, Lining, Heel Logo, Laces, Midsole and Outsole. Customising the colour and materials used of each section.

The Nike “Unlocked By You” gives you additional options, allowing you to use more colours, Tie Die and Paisley options.

What is the difference between the Nike Dunk Panda Low “By You” and the Nike Dunk Low Panda sportswear version?

Both pairs are very similar (I’ve had both in hand). But the Nike Dunk Low “By You” tends to come out with better quality control than the standard version. This is because the Nike Dunk Low is made in a separate Nike factory that focuses on customised versions of the Dunk, rather than the general releases. The feedback we hear in the UK Sneaker Community is that QC is always better on “By You” pairs.

The Nike Dunk Low Panda is identical to he “By You” version aside from two differences.

  1. The eagle eyed sneakerhead will note that the logo on the tongue of the “By You” is reversed. Replacing the traditional black logo with white background, with a white logo on a black background.
  2. The outsole of the Nike Dunk Low is created using Nike’s recycled grind rubber “Nike Grind” which means it will contain slightly speckling instead of being a solid dark colour. Using Nike grind is in line with Nike’s Move To Zero campaign, the sole looking slighltly speckled as it contains recyled off cuts of defective shoes and scrap from the manufacturing floor.

Aside from these two points, the shoe is identical

Pricing wise, expect to pay slightly more than the general release Panda, this is because the “By You” versions require a more bespoke manufacturing process, rather than being mass produced. You’ll pay £114.99 for the Nike Dunk Low Panda “By You” version, compared to buying the general release for £99.99. (Prices quoted likely to change soon due to inflation!)
