One of the most timeless and iconic New Balance Lifestyle shoes is back better than ever with this latest play on the classic style. The New Balance 574 “Wabi Sabi” highlights the Japanese aesthetics of “finding beauty in imperfection” in this namesake colourway. A lot of Levi’s denim vibes on this shoe, but the most notable detail is the adjustable bar on the tongue. While the regular lacing setup does its job, the adjustable tongue bar hugs the foot better when pulled up.
The New Balance 574 “Wabi Sabi” is one of the most unique renditions of the shoe. We can recall Nike’s “Wabi Sabi” Nike Air Max 1 edition in early 2022; and that too has rich details. Let’s get a closer look at the rest of the details of this New Balance 574 “Wabi Sabi”.
Midnight Navy suede makes up the entirety of the upper. Brown rubber overlays cover the “N” logo on the sides and stands out; the same goes for the Brown NB heel counter. Interior lining of the shoes comes in Beige and mimics Japanese design aesthetics.
The pull tab on the tongue features a wood-like bar spelling out “New Balance”. This is the most notable addition to the Wabi Sabi 574s. All the other colourways also featured this tongue pull tab and enhances the fit.
Dual-density ENCAP cushioning provides decent cushioning, majority of the midsoles features White and transitions to Navy on the rear.
The Brown rubber outsole features some sort of speckles and scratches all over the surface. This is a reference to the Wabi Sabi tradition of finding beauty in imperfection.
