The Nike Air Force 1 “Vibram Pack” Gives the Classic a Rugged Upgrade
Since ’82, the iconic AF1 has evolved through countless collaborations and material experiments while keeping its unmistakable DNA intact. Now Nike pushes the model into more rugged territory with the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Vibram Pack.”
The first major change appears noticeably in the upper. Traditional leather panels step aside for ripstop nylon, a material known for its grid-like weave and lightweight durability. This construction gives the Air Force 1 a slightly technical look while keeping the familiar panel layout intact.
Leather still plays a role. The Swoosh, heel tab, and tongue details return in smooth leather, maintaining the identity of the original design. That balance keeps the shoe grounded in its heritage while the fabric upper pushes it in a new direction.
Underfoot is where the pack makes its biggest statement. Instead of the standard rubber outsole, Nike equips the sneaker with Vibram tooling, a feature widely associated with high-performance hiking footwear. The reworked outsole introduces a more aggressive tread pattern designed to improve traction and durability. While the AF1 is still primarily a lifestyle shoe, the Vibram upgrade suggests a version of the classic that can move beyond smooth pavement.
Three colourways headline the collection: “Pencil Point,” “Summit White,” and “Silt Red.” Each option leans into neutral and earthy tones that complement the outdoor-inspired construction. The palette feels grounded and functional, echoing the visual language often seen across Nike’s more rugged lifestyle offerings.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Vibram Pack” ultimately represents another step in the silhouette’s long evolution. It respects the core design that made the AF1 iconic while introducing materials and tooling that align with modern outdoor trends. No specific release date has been announced yet, but the pack is expected to drop in Summer 2026.
