Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 “Mag” Channels “Back to the Future” Energy to the 2026 US Open

Nike is taking sneakerheads on another trip through time with the upcoming Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 “Mag”, a special-edition colourway inspired by the legendary Nike Air Mag from Back to the Future Part II. One of Tinker Hatfield’s most iconic creations continues to influence modern releases, and this latest Air Tech Challenge 2 blends nostalgic movie references with Andre Agassi’s classic tennis silhouette to celebrate the 2026 US Open Tournament.

The upcoming release features a Photon Dust and tumbled grey leather upper, closely resembling the futuristic Nike Air Mag worn by Marty McFly. A clean White leather Swoosh provides contrast, while Dusty Cactus (Blue Tint) accents appear throughout the shoe, most notably the cracked “lava” effect and the speckles on the midsole. This detail echoes the glowing blue hue found on the Mag’s famous outsole.

Nike also includes several subtle references to the film franchise. The side panel cutouts feature bright blue inserts, complemented by a speckled midsole and matching Nike Air branding on the heel. Adding another cinematic nod, the tongue and insole logos feature an orange-to-yellow gradient, reminiscent of the classic Back to the Future movie logo. An icy translucent outsole completes the futuristic aesthetic.

The Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 “Mag” is expected to release during Fall 2026 as part of Nike’s 2026 US Open collection. The pair will launch through Nike and select retailers, with a retail price of £130 in men’s sizing. With its combination of movie nostalgia, tennis heritage, and one of Nike’s most beloved colour palettes, the Air Tech Challenge 2 “Mag” is shaping up to be one of the standout retro releases of the season.
