Nike Alphafly 4 Unveiled With More Energy Return and Less Weight

Nike is pushing its marathon flagship forward with the Alphafly 4, the lightest and most responsive version of the record-breaking racing shoe to date. Rebuilt to help runners maintain speed as fatigue sets in, the latest model delivers 10 percent more energy return while weighing five percent less than its predecessor.

The biggest update comes underfoot, where Nike combines standard ZoomX with its new ZoomX LT foam above and below a carbon-fiber Flyplate. ZoomX LT is reportedly 17 percent lighter and returns eight percent more energy than regular ZoomX, creating a softer and bouncier ride without adding unnecessary weight. The plate retains the Alphafly’s signature scooped shape but now sits across a wider platform, while updated dual Air Zoom units provide responsive propulsion through the forefoot.

A new seamless Atomknit upper creates a more precise race-day fit, supported by zoned midfoot cables, an integrated heel structure, and a molded sockliner. Nike also introduces its lightweight Fast Shot outsole for traction, with the redesigned foam, plate, and Air Zoom system intended to produce a smoother and quieter transition than the Alphafly 3. The shoe maintains a 39mm heel and 31mm forefoot stack for an eight-millimeter drop, weighing 168 grams in a women’s size 8 and 208 grams in a men’s size 10.

The Nike Alphafly 4 receives an early limited release through Nike on September 17, 2026, followed by a wider launch at Nike and select retailers on October 29. Pricing is set at $ £255 in the UK.
