Jordan Brand pays homage to the sneaker that started it all with a new colourway for 2022! The Air Jordan 1 High OG Retro “Heritage” combines the colour blocking of the “Bred” but with the pigments of the “Chicago”; no better way to combine two of the most popular Air Jordan 1 colourways around than this one!
When early images of this shoe started to surface, many compared the shoe to the J1 x TS x Fragment from last year; you know, same dominant white colour blocking except this one is red and has no TS x Fragment details and all. Later on, many noticed the resemblance with the OG “Bred” edition. Regardless of the differing views and opinions about the “Heritage” 1s, expect a lot of hype surrounding its release.
The Air Jordan 1 forever changed the world with its arrival in 1985. Both the shoe and MJ himself shattered standards; with the J1 turning a lot of heads and Michael Jordan gaining immense popularity with his stellar basketball prowess. The Air Jordan 1 was responsible for shifting Nike’s direction towards the top of sportswear brands.
Leather makes up the upper of the shoe, with a nylon tongue and a rubber cupsole for basketball performance. Encased within the heel is a Nike Air unit for minimal cushioning. Beyond basketball, the shoe made its way to skateboarding and streetwear cultures – remaining highly sought after to this day.
This Air Jordan 1 High OG Retro “Heritage” boasts a throwback yet modern vibe with its White, Red, and Black colour combination. White covers the majority of the upper; while University Red hues adorn the vamp, Swoosh, collar, and heel panel like the “Bred” Jordan 1. Black completes the lining and the laces (although it comes with extra red and white laces).
Definitely a versatile colourway perfect for a wide range of outfits and styles; keep an eye out for its official release in April 2022.
Whether you rock them as is or convert the white to “Bred”, it’s all up to you!
