The Air Jordan 36 is one of the most advanced flagship silhouettes in recent years. Ever since the main Jordan model reached 31, the brand infused design cues from retro creps starting with the Air Jordan 1 and so on. The Air Jordan 36 is a 30-year gap between the Air Jordan 6; and clearly, a lot has changed since then – including advancements in sneaker technology. But the immortalised history of the 6 remains the same.

Officially launched in 2021, the Air Jordan 36 uses what the brand calls a Jacquard Leno-Weave fabric on the upper for a lightweight yet durable ride. While the J6 looked bulky (as they actually are), the Jordan 36 is Jordan Brand’s lightest hoops shoe to date. A TPU ribbon reinforces the rest of the upper for long usage.

One of the most notable features of the shoe is the cushioning system. A full-length Zoom Air strobel comes stitched directly to the upper of the shoe; allowing the foot to make first contact with the bouncy air bag for extreme impact protection and maximum responsiveness. Jordan Brand wanted even more cushioning and placed another Zoom Air unit protruding right under the forefoot.

An Eclipse plate provides torsional support and keeps the foot stable during hard cuts and runs.

The “ol’ reliable” aggressive herringbone traction makes up the entirety of the outsole for consistent grip.

This Air Jordan 36 “Black Infrared” arrives in an all-black upper with hints of Infrared on the Jumpman logos, midsole, and other details on the heel. Mimicking the same colour blocking found on the shoe that started it: the Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared”.

Hailed as one of the best basketball shoes since launch, it’s available now on the Nike website.
