When Nike Air Max technology arrived in 1987, people assumed that it was the pinnacle of sneaker tech. But Nike had only just begun, since then they have been developing the patented their signature cushioning with even better versions. The latest in this line is the Nike Air Max 2021, another innovative Air unit arriving in a never before seen shape.

The Nike Air Max 2021 sports many sustainable materials and contains at least 20% recycled content by weight. A lot of Nike models continue to promote the brand’s Move to Zero campaign by using sustainable materials. As a result, the Nike Air Max 2021‘s upper is made with engineered mesh, woven textiles and without any sewed layers. The tongue appears in a perforated mesh build to achieve a lightweight, durable and breathable feel. Exaggerated eye stays feature more lace loops to give you a great customized fit.

Swoosh and Nike Air Max labels appear on the sides while pull tabs are visible on the tongue and heel to finish off the upper.

For the cushioning system, Nike brought back the classic build up of foam in the front and Air in the heel. But this time it’s the Air unit that levels up. A soft foam midsole provides that step-in comfort for a stable ride. The cored-out heel section features a collapsible cage where the dual-pressure Air Max unit is placed. The Air Max unit is shaped like a honeycomb so each pillar can distribute energy return and impact protection where it’s most needed.

The rubber outsole features circular traction patterns that look like flathead bolts all throughout the bottom.

Released in early September 2021, this Nike Air Max 2021 colourway appears in a subtle Grey makeover with hints of Emerald Green on the stitching and heel Air Max unit. The Nike Air Max 2021 Photon Dust is available on the Nike website and other select retailers worldwide.
