Nike TN Air Max Plus (Tuned 1) "Black Graphic"

A staple sneaker since the moment it released; the Nike TN Air Max Plus instantly became popular when it pioneered Tuned Air in 1998. Tuned Air Max stepped up in terms of support and stability. Because of the accrued love from the public, Nike Tuned Air models continued to release in retro form.

The Air Max Plus, or Tuned 1,  was a futuristic sneaker at launch, headlining the numerous amounts of sneaker technology in the late 90s. The blow-moulded Air units on the Air Max Plus also feature rubber hemispheres for more support and extra durability. Ensuring you get the same consistent comfort from the first day of wear. Nike also managed to combine lightweight mesh and TPU strips on the upper for a lightweight ride.

Taking inspiration from beach life in the urban landscapes, the Nike TN Air Max Plus features wavy TPU fingers that pay homage to palm trees and ocean waves. They serve as an exoskeleton and are strategically placed throughout the upper to add structure and reinforce the mesh upper. Graphic prints made use of the mesh upper for a unique finish.

Yellow Nike “TN” logos on the heel and tongue add extra detail to the shoe. Mini Swoosh logos on the sides keep up with the streamlined approach.

The toe and mudguard add durability to the shoe. The foam midsole houses the two visible Tuned Air Max units decoupled by a rigid TPU arch inspired by a whale’s tail.

Finishing it off is the modified waffle traction pattern on the outsole.

This Nike TN Air Max Plus (Tuned 1) “Black Graphic” boasts a graphic print consisting of Black, White, and Grey accents on the mesh upper. The blending of the hues formed a rather bluish accent that hide the semi-translucent TPU strips. Black and White pigments complete the rest of the shoe.

Expect an early December 2021 release on the Nike website and other select retailers worldwide.
