Nike Air VaporMax Evo Anthracite / Midnight Navy

The Nike Vapormax is one of the most intriguing silhouettes to ever released, period. Introduced in 2016 as a runner, the Vapormax featured an huge Air Sole unit that dared to test the boundaries of air tech. Half a decade later the Vapormax has transitioned into the lifestyle category, continuing the innovation of Nike air.

Taking the DNA of 7 classic Air Max icons, the Nike Air Vapormax Evo was the latest in the line from this silhouette. Unlike the original Vapormax that is made with a sock-like Flyknit upper, the Vapormax Evo leans on a more rigid structure for support which helps to keep your foot stable while enjoying the experience of walking on “Air”.

This hybrid sneaker boasts design elements from Air Max icons such as the Air Max 90, Air Max Plus and 5 other shoes to bring these beauties to life. A new Vapormax logo can be found on the tongue, but also on the sockliner and heel tab. If you look around, more Nike branding can be found on the rest of the heel panel.

The Air Sole unit is taken from the Vapormax 2021 which sports rubber pods on key high-wear areas to increase grip and outsole durability.

Featuring a mesh base upper with synthetic textiles that pay tribute to the 7 Nike Air Max icons involved, this shoe prioritises support and function rather than the lightweight ride that people loved with the regular Vapormax model.

An interesting re-spec by Nike is the “whale tail” midfoot shank, taken from the Air Max Plus. The Nike Vapormax Evo utilizes the shank on the heel counter for maximum stability and support.

Released on Air Max Day 2021, this colourway of the Nike Air Vapormax Evo combineds all of the most popular colourways of the 7 iconic shoes involved with the design. A range of shades including White, Midnight Navy, Grey, Anthracite, and Bronze are found all over the shoe to resemble each model.

A transparent Air Sole unit with yellow rubber sections finishes this insane hybrid of a colourway.
