A legend in its own right, the Nike AF1’s origin began in 1982 as a high-top basketball shoe. Designed by Bruce Kilgore, the Nike Air Force 1 is the first Nike basketball shoe with Nike Air technology.

Nike ceased the production of AF2 in 1984 to give way to newer basketball models. However, fans didn’t easily let this slide and persuaded Nike to bring the AF1 back into the market. Nike eventually gave in and relaunched the shoe in 1986, and became a mainstay model with thousands of colourways today.
