Official launched in 1990 as the Nike Air Max III, the classic Air Max runner then adopted the name Air Max 90; referring to its year of release. Another Tinker Hatfield masterpiece, the AM90 improved in terms of design features; which also helped athletes, specifically runners, perform their best without causing too much damage to their joints.
TPU became the name of the game for the Air Max 90. TPU panels reinforce the eyestays as well as the heel panel, and most especially, the visible Air Max it surrounds. The soft foam midsole works for the most part, but the Air unit boasted even more comfort and cushioning.

This Nike Air Max 90 “Gradient Cassette” arrives in an all-white mesh base upper; with textile Platinum Grey overlays and a suede Wolf Grey mudguard. An “AIR” tag accompanies the Swoosh logo on the sides for more brand identity. Vibrant tones of Orange on the Nike tag on the tongue and a Bright Crimson plus Volt combination on the heel TPU carrier bring vibrance to the overall finish.
