Nike Air Max 97 "Be True" 2023 FD8637-600

Nike’s annual Be True collection will launch soon, and this rainbow-coloured Air Max 97 will headline the first set of releases. The brand began celebrating the LGBTQ+ community in 2012 with the BETRUE event, and it’s still going strong in 2023. This Nike Air Max 97 “Be True” 2023 lands with multiple upper panels with rainbow pigments. Aside from the shoe you also get a bracelet!

 

 

Nike made proper use of the wavy panels of this AM97 and incorporated colourful frills on the upper. The additional bracelet accessory spell BE TRUE in different colours. We can expect Nike to unveil the entire Be True 2023 Collection ahead of the other models’ release.

 

 

The Air Max 97 is one of the most iconic Air Max models in existence. This innovative trainer boasted various design aspects never seen on any previous silhouette. Designer Christian Tresser took design inspiration from the sleek look of Japanese bullet trains and ripples of water to complete the construction.

 

 

The shoe features a full-length Air Max unit, the first time on any Air Max shoe. This provided maximum cushioning and impact protection, perfect for all-day wear. The Air Max 97 celebrated its 40th year in 2022 and brought back some OGs like the Silver Bullet and Atlantic Blue colourways.

 

 

The Nike Air Max 97 “Be True” 2023 honours the LGBTQ+ community and features rainbow frills on the upper panels. A beige leather mudguard keeps the neutral-toned base clean. Be True branding appears on the sockliner and heel pull tab. A Be True bracelet hangs below the mini Swoosh on the lateral panel.
