We’ve got a handful of Blue-based Tuned 1 colourways, but Nike’s not done yet! This Nike Air Max Plus “Black / University Blue” incorporates Blue with additional hues on certain parts of the shoe. Unique details appearing on the tongue make this an intriguing release! While we’re unsure if it’s part of an upcoming pack, any Air Max Plus with blue in them will definitely catch attention.
The colour combination on these is unlike anything we’ve seen before on recent Air Max Plus releases. At first glance, you’d only notice the dominant Blue and Black. But check some details on the upper and you’ll see some subtle hints.
The entirety of the 90s was a groundbreaking era for Nike. And the arrival of the Tuned Air Max technology was the icing on the cake. Tasked to make the marquee Tuned Air model; Sean McDowell pulled his trainer sketches inspired by palm trees on beaches and used them as his basis for design. The result was the Nike Air Max Plus, the first Tuned Air trainer introduced in 1998.
Mesh makes up the base of the shoe, which is pretty common to keep the shoe lightweight and breathable. Wavy TPU fingers act as external cages and keep the structure of the sneaker intact. A plastic toe cap and leather mudguard provide durability and extra support.
The rigid shank plate on the midfoot takes the form of a whale’s tail – serving as both torsional support and added protection.
Tuned Air Max units in the heel and forefoot provide the same bounce and comfort that we all loved from regular Air Max; except this time it has even more support because of the rubber hemispheres embedded on the air bags.
This Nike Air Max Plus “Black / University Blue” arrives in a dominant Blue and Black colour combination with white speckles on the midsole. Chlorophyll strips appear on the middle panel and outsole, where Bordeaux hues also appear.
Pine trees on the tongue specify the great outdoors in this new colourway. Check out its release in May 2022.
