Nike Air More Uptempo "Lakers / Court Purple"

Repping the LakeShow is always something to look forward to! Especially when you get new Lakers-inspired colourways on a classic hoops shoe. This Nike Air More Uptempo “Lakers / Court Purple” dons a simple Black and Purple colour combination; with minimal hints of Metallic Gold as an homage to the Purple and Gold signature pigments.

New Nike Air More Uptempo colourways continue releasing in the past few months. Although quite sporadic compared to other hyped pairs, most releases have been hits and no misses! This “Lakers” rendition of the Nike Air More Uptempo takes it back to the days when the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers battled it out. Although the Uptempos arrived a little bit later on during their careers, it’s still a nice tribute to the popular NBA squad.

First introduced in 1996, the Nike Air More Uptempo was Chicago Bulls superstar Scottie Pippen’s unofficial signature shoe. Aside from the rather bulky build and the “most Air we’ve put in a shoe” that Nike claimed during the time; the Air More Uptempo boasted a large “AIR” – quite literally.

Making up most of the upper is a large “AIR” lettering meant for stability and aesthetics. Swoosh logos appear on the tongue, forefoot, heel, midsole, and outsole just in case you forgot what it looked like. Underneath is a full-length Air Max unit divided into several segments.

This Nike Air More Uptempo “Lakers / Court Purple” features a nubuck base with a glossy leather overlay covering the “AIR”. A Metallic Gold Swoosh on the tongue hints at the Los Angeles Lakers’ purple and gold colours.
