The Women’s Nike Blazer Mid ’77 is one of Nike’s pioneer basketball sneakers, first released back in the ’70s. All this time later the shoe has now become primarily a skateboarding and lifestyle option, as newer basketball models entered Nike’s footwear catalogue. The Nike Blazer Mid has also appeared in some of the biggest Nike sneaker collabs in recent memory. Popular brands such as Off-White, READYMADE, and Sacai are just some of the notable brands that gave us a different spin on the Nike Blazer.

As part of Nike’s “Move to Zero” campaign, this Nike Blazer Mid ’77 incorporates a great variety of sustainable materials.

The Nike Blazer Mid uses a leather upper on the body. Suede panels can be seen on the toe and forefoot areas for extra durability. Large Nike Swooshes adorn both sides of the sneaker. A padded ankle collar on the Mid version provides comfort and support for basketball players. Classic Nike tags adorn the heel panel and the tongue.

The thick vulcanized rubber sole became popular among skateboarders over the years, additionally the iconic ripple effect on the sides has returned in true form. Underneath the midsole is the full-length herringbone traction pattern that provides consistent traction on any surface.

This colourway of the Women’s Nike Blazer Mid ’77 arrives in Black and White. It’s included in Nike’s “Next Nature” initiative that focuses on the use of more sustainable materials. At first glance it looks like the usual leather plus suede combination, but the leather actually contains recycled content. The suede panels and Swoosh return on this build up. Overall, the shoe contains at least 20% recycled content by weight.

The exposed foam on the tongue boasts a throwback look and finishes off the upper detailing. Speckles on the rubber sole are a reminder of Nike’s “Move to Zero” sneaker releases.

First available in women’s sizing on the Nike website in September 2021.
