One of the brand’s first running trainers returns with a brand new colourway for 2023. We all know the Nike Cortez usually gets connected to the iconic Forrest Gump film starring Tom Hanks. After quietly celebrating the Cortez’ 50th anniversary in 2022, Nike decided to bring more styles in the new decade. This Nike Cortez “White Black Blue” flexes familiar tones, but with a different execution. Nostalgia all around despite being a new colourway!
The Cortez may not be in demand compared to the likes of the Dunk and Air Jordan, but it’s still a shoe worth trying. Its long history and cultural connections will live on as long as Nike is around. This new colourway looks to welcome the new generation with a simple colour blocking suitable for all outfits.
The Nike Cortez pioneered the Oregon-based sportswear brand’s running catalogue. It was the first track shoe released by Nike. Designed by brand co-founder Bill Bowerman, the Cortez featured essential design aspects in running.
Leather and nylon usually comprise the upper of the shoe. A dual-density sponge midsole serves as the primary cushioning system. This pioneered the use of softer and more comfortable midsoles in the succeeding years.
Reliable herringbone completes the rubber outsole for consistent traction.
This Nike Cortez “White Black Blue” features a White leather base with Black Swoosh and heel panels. Classic Nike logos adorn the tongue, while the Blue midsole stripe on the heel adds a livelier vibe to the shoe.
This pair will release this February 2023 on the Nike UK website. Expect more new Nike Cortez releases soon as Nike brings more classics back from the archives.
