The hype got even more out of hand when Virgil Abloh redesigned the three popular colourways of the Nike Dunk Low. I refer to the Michigan State, Michigan, and UNLV. But thanks to Nike’s “By You” service, you can now get your own customized Nike Dunk Low in a range of colours and materials to your taste.

First introduced in 1985 as a premier basketball shoe for college athletes, the Nike Dunk has a similar design to another iconic model. Of course we’re talking about the Air Jordan 1, which was introduced just a few months before the Nike Dunk.

The model gained popularity through college ball as 12 Nike-sponsored schools rocked the shoe, made up in their own colours. The Nike “Be True To Your School” campaign was a memorable project by Nike, with many of the sneakers arriving in vibrant hues.

Finished in leather with a thick base, a concentric traction pattern adorns the sole providing instant grip on most surfaces. There were times when the re-release of the Nike Dunks was totally ignored as the pairs hit outlets and sales. The same can’t be said nowadays, as every single release of the Nike Dunk calls for an instant sell-out.

Launched in August 2021, Nike introduced Nike Dunk Low “By You”. It’s a great option for those who missed out on those retail pairs that you couldn’t cop. Not only do you get a chance to create your own Nike Dunks, but they are also available in a wide range of colours and materials! Premium leather, synthetic leather, suede, and woven fabric are the upper materials you can choose from.
