2022 saw the welcome addition of another skateboarding star to the Nike SB roster. 2013 Thrasher Skater of the Year and 2014 World Skateboarding Bronze medalist Ishod Wair finally launches his own signature shoe with Nike. This Nike SB Ishod Wair “Light Olive” is one of the first colourways at launch; and it’s already showing signs of becoming one of the best-selling skate shoes from the Swoosh.

When Ishod Wair joined Nike SB in 2016, he rocked the popular Nike SB Dunk Pro in his own colourways. A few years later, he becomes the latest Nike athlete with a signature skate shoe. This “Light Olive” rendition boasts complementing colours for an eye-catching low-top sneaker.

What makes signature trainers great is that the signature athletes themselves input suggestions on how they want the shoes to look. That being said, the Nike SB Ishod Wair collides skateboarding aspects with 90s basketball elements. Ishod’s love for basketball was present in the form of the reverse Swoosh specifically inspired by the Nike Air Darwin.

The Nike SB Ishod Wair features a suede upper construction with rubber panels on the sides. These rubber panels are similar to the Air Jordans 4 and 5 where they serve as ventilation systems for a breathable feeling. On the rear, a reverse Swoosh adds a unique look bridging skateboard and basketball. There’s a mini Swoosh on the toe for more brand labeling.

“Ishod” tags adorn the tongue, heel, and React sockliner.

Underneath, a rubber midsole features extra raised sidewalls for stability. The main source of cushioning comes in the form of the super soft React drop-in midsole. Nike and React labels appear on the midsole.

Finishing the design is the outsole with what appears to be a wavy herringbone traction pattern. The waves are similar to the ones found on the Nike PG 2 – which is one of the most consistent traction patterns when it came out in 2018.

This Nike SB Ishod Wair “Light Olive” arrives in an Olive Brown makeover with Varsity Red accents on various areas. Black hues finish off the rest.

Not only is the shoe great for skate sessions but the new model looks to be another top-rated lifestyle shoe.

It’s available now on the Nike website, and stay tuned as more colourways of the Nike SB Ishod Wair will arrive soon.
