The Nike Shox R4 returns in “Bright Mandarin,” keeping the early-2000s energy alive while switching things up with a fresh hit of orange-yellow at the heel. While this version follows the classic blueprint closely, it introduces enough difference to stand on its own.

The upper sticks with the sleek, aerodynamic shape that made the Shox R4 a standout at launch. This time, the base comes in Vast Grey, replacing the metallic finish of the OG. Synthetic panelling, perforations, and contoured lines all stay in place, keeping the shoe’s tech-runner DNA intact.

But it’s the heel that draws the eye. The Shox columns—once red in the original—now arrive in a punchy Bright Mandarin. It’s a small change with big effect. The pop of colour breaks up the muted upper and adds a bit of aggression to the design without going over the top.

Underfoot, the Shox cushioning system still delivers on comfort. The columns compress and spring back with each step, absorbing impact and keeping transitions smooth. Nike didn’t touch the outsole either, sticking with the same grippy rubber layout that supported runners and city walkers alike.

This R4 doesn’t try to reinvent the silhouette. It respects the past and makes a quiet tweak where it counts.
