First intended as a performance running trainer, the Saucony Shadow 5000 arrived as a follow-up to the Saucony Shadow Original. The Saucony Shadow Original leveraged the brand’s name when it comes to running sneakers. Setting the standard that the following models needed to live up to.
The Saucony Shadow 5000 debuted in 1989 and had performance in mind, it did exceed people’s expectations. Which led to even more Saucony Shadow silhouettes in the next few years. Still a fresh sight in 2021, the sneaker now focuses on style and comfort.
Mesh makes up the body of the shoe, while suede and leather adorn the overlays, side panels, as well as the Saucony logo. The lightweight build-up boosts the responsiveness and agility of runners. The padded heel panel hugs the foot to go along with the speed lace eyelets for a secure fit.
A dual-density EVA midsole gives you the right balance of comfort and impact protection. The thinner forefoot part boasts a softer feel, while the midfoot to heel area provides stability and support.
Finishing the design is the XT-600 triangular lug rubber traction outsole that’s both grippy and durable to give you a long-lasting grip.
This colourway of the Saucony Shadow 5000 features varying shades of navy on the upper, with tan accents on the lining and the laces. The Saucony logo on the sides flaunts a lighter turquoise hue to match the heel panel.
White and Sail pigments on the midsole add a vintage touch to the 80s retro runner. Underneath is the reliable gum rubber outsole for a grip that never fails.
