The adidas Karintha “Earth Strata” reflects a clash of materials and moods, reshaped under the direction of Wales Bonner. This drop continues the designer’s ongoing conversation with adidas, this time introducing a more abstract and expressive feel to the classic low-top format.
The beige “Desert Sand” pair features a notably loose suede upper, soft and pliable across the forefoot and collar. From a top-down view, the silhouette takes on a draped, almost formless appearance. The relaxed structure plays with shape and shadows, offering something less conventional than most heritage-inspired releases. In contrast, the black and brown sequinned version presents a tighter, more sculpted profile. Its reflective surface changes tone in motion and lends a slightly formal edge to the looser shape.
Both builds sit on a newly tooled sole with diamond-patterned traction. The outsole pulls inspiration from topographic lines, flowing from heel to toe with a warped, slightly organic feel. Perforated 3-Stripes appear on the sidewalls, adding an understated nod to adidas archive references.
Wales Bonner doesn’t just reshape the upper—she rethinks the structure, mood, and texture of the trainer entirely. The Karintha is less about performance and more about presence, leaning into softness and complexity without losing form.
