This is the most important Air Max release of the year! After headlining most sneaker forums and communities, we finally land with the highly awaited Air Max 1 colourway. This WMNS Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Big Bubble” University Red arrives in the OG colourway and original prototype. Nike finally found a way to bring us the large Air unit as originally planned.
Looks like Air Jordans are not the only Nike sneakers with vintage aesthetics. This may not be a Reimagined pair, but this is a fulfilment of the 1986 prototype before the official 1987 Air Max 1 release. Everybody knows this is a must-cop shoe because it’s the OG Air Max 1 colourway!
Nike revolutionised sportswear yet again with the arrival of the Nike Air Max 1 in 1987. This running shoe flexed a visible window on the sole, which is actually an exposed Nike Air unit.
Mesh comprises the body of the shoe, while overlays on the toe and midfoot usually come in leather and suede.
PU foam makes up the midsole, Air units are encased within the sole. The heel features the iconic visible Air Max unit.
The Big Bubble ’86 model is unlike any Air Max 1 we’ve seen. This shoe actually never released before, the design is based on the prototype which never made it into production. The reason is that the large Air unit has tendencies to pop, hence Tinker Hatfield made the bubble smaller.
This WMNS Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Big Bubble” University Red lands in the classic OG colourway. Notable differences with the modern mould of the Air Max 1 include the overall shape of the shoe, the collar, and the heel Air unit.
A special box with aged aesthetics makes you feel like it’s 1986 all over again!
Cop a pair this March 2023 to headline Nike Air Max Day 2023.
