While football might not be coming home after all, according to the latest reports, the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Chlorophyll” will be. Rumours of this legendary re-release first popped up back in November of last year, and while many sneakerheads were a little skeptical about this considering it’s widely-regarded as one of the greatest collaborations of all-time, it may have just been confirmed by the Amsterdam-based label itself.
First introduced all the way back in 2009, this limited edition Air Max 1 works on top of a crisp white mesh base and is overlaid by “Matte Silver” nubuck overlays. Denim-esque “Chlorophyll” accents wrap around the mudguard section for a look that’s sure to turn heads, and this unique material extends towards the heel as well, where you’ll also find an embroidered “Nike Air” logo.
The iconic Nike Swoosh shoots across the sidewalls, and just in case that wasn’t enough, there’s another one stitched around the lateral toe. All of this then rests on top of an extremely comfortable Air midsole, and the holy grail is rounded off with a special “Patta” tag on the tongue, finalising the design.
While there were some doubts on whether Patta’s Air Max 1 would actually return, the fact that 2024 marks the 20th birthday of the brand is a massive indicator that it’ll likely launch again. However, if that wasn’t enough proof already, co-owners Edson Sabajo and Gee Schmidt recently uploaded a photo on Instagram of them wearing the “Chlorophyll” while hanging out with Nigerian artist TEMS, who seems to be holding a never-before-seen 20th anniversary box.
The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Chlorophyll” is set to drop exclusively on pattaxnike.com and in Patta stores on September 13th.
