The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x adidas Superstar “Shelltoe” Goes Cowabunga

From Batman to Spider-Man, when it comes to superhero-inspired drops, the sneaker industry is no stranger to them. However, for the first time ever, adidas is teaming up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x adidas Superstar “Shelltoe.” Revealed just in time to celebrate the beloved franchise’s 40th anniversary, this is a must-cop for both trainer enthusiasts and TMNT fans alike.

From a distance, this Superstar looks like just another classic Superstar, but there are plenty of awesome details throughout. The upper, for example, switches out the usual smooth leather in favour of a green tumbled construction that’s soft and supple to the touch. The Three Stripe branding and dubrae is different depending on which pair you go for. The colourway featured in this article represents Raphael, but there will also be blue accents for Leonardo, orange ones for Michelangelo, and purple for Donatello.

Around the back, “adidas” is debossed in a comic book-style front, and across the tongue, you’ll find a turtle shell graphic that nods to the protagonists themselves. This theme then extends towards the toebox, where the classic Shelltoe has been replaced with an actual turtle shell design, which is extremely clever. All of this rests on top of an off-white rubber midsole, and it’s lined with a gum rubber outsole. It’s then packed in special edition shoebox that has been made specifically for this collab.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x adidas Superstar “Shelltoe” stands out as a celebration of pop culture, sneaker design, and the enduring legacy of TMNT. Expected to drop on March 22nd to celebrate its 40th anniversary, be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop!
