We’re not even two full months into 2025 yet, and the upcoming Union LA x Air Jordan 1 High OG “Varsity Red” looks like it could be the best sneaker of the year. Made in collaboration with the Chris Gibbs-helmed boutique, this is the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 collection, and if you want a pair, make sure you read on to find out everything that you need to know.

Just like the aforementioned 2018 drop, the “Varsity Red” combines two legendary Air Jordan 1 colourways together. The collar section has been borrowed from the “Shadow,” while the rest of the sneaker is taken from the iconic “Chicago.” These are then attached together using “University Blue” stitching, which is another nod to Michael Jordan’s legacy.

While ULA and Jordan Brand could’ve just left it there and it would’ve sold out anyway, the duo have gone 10 steps further by giving this sneaker a vintage-inspired finish. The leather is softer and more supple, and the panels are lined with a yellow edge for a patina-like look. All of this then sits on top of a creamy Nike Air midsole that looks like it’s been plucked straight out of the archives.

If you want the Union LA x Air Jordan 1 High OG “Varsity Red” in your collection then you need to listen up. A friends and family editio already landed on February 8th, and it’s expected to get a much wider launch on February 28th, exclusively via Union Los Angeles. If you still don’t manage to cop, it’ll re-release via Nike and the SNKRS app. Let us know if you’ll be going for these, and be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
