Nike partners with South Korean designer Hyein Seo on the all-new Ava Rover “Sequoia,” a silhouette that pulls from outdoor design while landing squarely on the streets. Built with function in mind but finished with a stripped-back aesthetic, this collab delivers an unorthodox take on utility footwear.

The sole unit brings the biggest shift. Nike uses cratered moulds and flow-formed indentations to shape a uniquely webbed midsole. Underneath, a minimal rubber skin keeps weight down while maintaining grip across different surfaces. It’s flexible, light, and surprisingly responsive—thanks to a ReactX foam base that softens impact without dragging the step.

Above the tooling, the upper contrasts in both texture and feel. It layers a translucent mudguard over thin sidewall panels, while a gridded perforation pattern near the toe adds structure and breathability. A small Swoosh rests low near the tip, keeping the branding subtle. Pull tabs on the heel complete the look with functional detail.

Nike’s current trail models like the Mountain Fly clearly influenced this silhouette, though the Ava Rover takes a sharper, more street-ready route. The Sequoia colourway leans into Hyein Seo’s signature mood—dark, pared back, and quietly aggressive.
