Nike’s New Mind 002 is Designed to Work on the Mind Through The Foot

Nike introduces the Mind 002 “Light Smoke Grey”, the first sneaker from its groundbreaking Nike Mind platform, a project a decade in the making that blends neuroscience, sport and performance. The concept goes is about syncing movement with focus, helping athletes reach that rare state of clarity and calm before, during, and after competition.

At the centre of this new system is the outsole tech, featuring 22 independent foam nodes beneath each foot. These nodes act like pistons, stimulating sensory points across the sole to heighten ground awareness. This direct feedback to the nervous system. The process has been tested and validated by the Nike Mind Science Department, a division within the Nike Sport Research Lab that studies the connection between motion, perception, and cognition.

Visually, the Mind 00 is stripped back and fluid, covered in a soft Light Smoke Grey finish with a perforated, breathable upper that feels insanely futuristic. Chrome details on the Swoosh break the monotone subtly, while Hyper Crimson nodes peek through the sole for a quiet pop of colour, a reminder of the active technology within.

The Mind 002 is a new form of performance shoe that treats the mind as part of the athlete’s gear. Lightweight, responsive, and very innovative.
