Nike Air Max 97 SE "First Use"

Surely one of the most iconic Air Max sneakers due to its revolutionary features, the Nike Air Max 97 continues to release to this day in both new and classic colourways. This time to celebrate the Swoosh’s 50th anniversary in 2021.

Inspired by water’s rippling effect, the wavy pattern of this Nike Air Max 97‘s upper is made with premium leather as well as hints of suede. This mixture helps to provide comfort and durability for your daily walks. This “First Use” colourway features a combination of White, Grey, Red, and Light Bone accents to give them a soft look. The tiny Swoosh on the lateral side appears in black with a red outline. The Swoosh on the medial sides flaunts Nike’s first use logo, designed by Carolyn Davidson in 1971.

This rendition of the Nike Air Max 97 utilises suede on the lower panels and synthetic materials to complete the rest of the wavy design. The mesh base fabric is lightweight and comfortable.

The hidden lacing system, which was the first of its kind feature during its release appears in a light bone. The Swoosh throws it back to Nike’s beginnings with a vintage label. Red accents on the tongue’s inner lining add some vibrancy to this shoe. The heel pull tab also displays multiple vintage Nike logos.

Moving on to the moulded base of the Nike Air Max 97, the white foam midsole houses the visible full-length Air unit with light bone pillars. Underneath is the waffle-traction outsole, finished in Black and White. This section provides amazing grip on both wet and dry surfaces.

A golden Swoosh lace lock finishes off the old-school design.

Released July 2021, this colourway is a fresh welcome to the growing number of colour schemes of the Nike Air Max 97.
