Nike Officially Reveals The Air Bakin OG Retro For Fall 2026

Nike’s recent retro basketball revival isn’t slowing down anytime soon. While futuristic performance models like the GT Future and KD 19 continue to push innovation forward, the Swoosh is simultaneously digging deeper into its archives for ’90s sneakerheads. Following the return of silhouettes like the Air Max Uptempo 95 and Flightposite, the legendary Nike Air Bakin is officially making its long-awaited comeback for Fall 2026.

Originally designed by Nike legend Eric Avar and released in 1997, the Air Bakin has remained one of the brand’s most requested retro basketball models. The silhouette became synonymous with NBA Hall of Famer Tim Hardaway during his memorable run with the Miami Heat, cementing its place among the era’s most recognizable on-court sneakers. Its return has been anticipated ever since Supreme reintroduced the model through its collaborative collection in 2023, fueling speculation that an original retro was only a matter of time.

Nike has now officially revealed the iconic OG Black/Varsity Red colorway, faithfully recreating one of the sneaker’s most memorable looks. The upper features the Air Bakin’s signature flame-inspired red synthetic overlays atop black mesh underlays, while bright yellow laces provide a striking contrast. White Swoosh branding on the lateral and medial sides completes the unmistakable late-’90s aesthetic.

As expected, Nike has opted for the standard Nike Air heel branding rather than the controversial original “Air Bakin” script that led to legal challenges during the model’s initial release. Original design elements, including the visible heel Air unit and rugged outsole pattern, also return, preserving the sneaker’s authentic heritage.

The Fall 2026 release marks only the second true retro of the Air Bakin, following its previous return in 2014. Since then, the silhouette has remained largely absent from Nike’s lineup outside of collaborative reinterpretations, making this one of the year’s biggest basketball retro releases.
