Just when we were finally recovering from our Air Max 1 ’86 Big Bubble Ls, it is now confirmed that that the the Air Max 180 will be returning in 2024 following the SNKRS showcase. This silhouette last came out in 2018 and instantly sold out. The 2024 comeback will not only bring the Nike Air Max 180 back to its OG form, but it will also have a big Air unit. Read on to find out more.
Originally released in 1991 as the successor to the revolutionary Air Max 90, the Nike Air Max 180 showcased even bigger (literally) potential for Air Max technology. The shoe takes its name from the large Air bubble, which provides 180-degree comfort and cushioning on the heel. Mesh and leather comprise the upper, with Swooshes on the sides and a TPU heel counter.
The legendary Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Max 180, hence the similarities in design to the previous silhouettes. TPU covers the 180-degree Air unit, but this time slimmer to allow the bubble to compress and provide more bounce.
The 180 will be released in two colourways “Ultramarine” and “Full 180.”
The iconic Nike Air Max 180 “Ultramarine” is expected to release 25th May 2024 in limited quantities.
