With Nike’s Kobe line relaunch now official, we’re now getting reports that an OG colourway will be getting the Protro treatment. The Nike Kobe 8 “Venice Beach” is one of the most popular colourways from the iconic basketball shoe. Originally released in 2013, it pays homage to the lovely Venice Beach in Los Angeles, and is decorated in a plethora of abstract patterns on grey engineered mesh.
Orange, yellow, and teal pigments cover the upper, while the Nike Swoosh on the sides is outlined in yellow. More teal tones adorn the midsole and heel counter, where you can also see Kobe’s signature scrawled in orange.
If the Nike Kobe 8 “Venice Beach” receives the Protro treatment, we can expect a thicker tongue, and a new cushioning system featuring a full-length React drop-in midsole with Zoom Air technology.
While not much else is known just yet, the Nike Kobe 8 “Venice Beach” is set to arrive sometime in 2024. This will be a popular release because of basketball fans who have been waiting for new Kobes since they became extremely limited. In related news, the Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Philly” from 2009 is making a comeback!
