While we’e still awaiting J Balvin’s upcoming Air Jordan 3 collab inspired by his hometown of Medellin, it looks like the Prince of Reggaeton has another J3 colourway in the works. Following the release of his cloud-inspired Air Jordan 2 last year, the J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Rio” pays tribute to his son Rio, who was born in 2021. We have no actual images of the shoe just yet, but concepts show gradient details similar to the hotly-anticipated “Medellin” colourway.
The “Rio” will feature an all-black leather upper with darkened elephant print overlays. Highlighting the design, however, are orange pigments evenly distributed on the panels. Orange accents adorn the eyelets on the bottom and topmost areas, while faded details can be found on the Nike Air midsole and semi-translucent heel panel with J Balvin’s logo. The Jumpman logos on the tongue will also arrive in a sunset-like shade.
Comparing it with the upcoming “Medellin” colourway, the “Rio” edition flaunts a stealthier finish and uses orange tones as the main highlight. The J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Medellin” will drop on September 2023, while the J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Rio” will is expected to arrive sometime in 2024. Be sure to let us know which colourway you’re feeling the most!
