True Nike heritage right here. The Nike Air Max 90 SE “Air Max Running Club” pays tribute to the brand’s co-founders’ Athletics West running club of the 70s. Formed in 1977, Athletics West is one of the popular running clubs during its time.
This Nike Air Max 90 is just one of two AM90 colourways included in the “Air Max Running Club” collection. The “Air Max Running Club” pack honors the Athletics West team formed by co-founders Phil Knight, Bill Bowerman, and colleague Geoff Hollister. Athletics West found success since its inception in the late 70s. The elite group won multiple cross country running competitions and other long course team competitions.
The Nike Air Max 90 made its way to the market in 1990 with a different name, the Air Max III. Nike eventually renamed the shoe as Air Max 90 based on the year of its launch. The Tinker Hatfield-designed runner revolutionised the way we view trainers from that point forward.
Air Max returned with a bigger window than ever before. With Nike’s Air Max technology, the AM90 signaled a new era for running shoes. The popular Air Max technology became the trend for Nike and the rest of the running community. This allowed the brand to innovate the tech for many years to come.
Decades later, the iconic Nike Air Max 90 continues to be one of the best-selling silhouettes in Nike’s Sportswear back catalogue.
Together with other Nike Air Max icons, the pack features vintage details with colourful uppers made out of mesh, nylon, and fuzzy suede fabrics.
This “Roma Green” iteration of the Nike Air Max 90 “Air Max Running Club” features vibrant hues. Loud accents of Green, Yellow, Orange, and White appear all over the mesh and suede upper. A lighter shade of green makes up the mesh base, while a darker shade adorns the suede overlay.
A fuzzy suede mudguard in red adds to the eye-catching combination. Yellow TPU details highlights the reinforcements.
The vintage tongue design features a metallic Silver Swoosh alongside a tag. More “AMRC” labels appear on the lateral side of the sneaker.
Finishing it off is the green and yellow waffle traction outsole.
Expect the “Air Max Running Club” collection to start releasing by November 2021.
