Just when we thought the Patta Air Max 1 “Rush Maroon” will close out the year, a fourth colourway emerges. The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Black Metallic Silver” utilises a classic makeover to keep things simpler this time. A perfect finale (or not) for the productive Patta x Nike collab in 2021.
It’s been more than a decade since the first Nike x Patta collab happened in 2005. And things are looking bright between the partnership of both brands. Patta remains to be a renowned boutique in Amsterdam, while Nike, well, we all know what Nike is. The first Air Max 1 x Patta came out in 2009 and continued until 2010. Now in 2021, Patta made use of the classic Air Max tech pioneer for a fourth “wave” – literally and figuratively.
Introduced in 1987, the Nike Air Max 1 features a mesh base underlay with suede overlays on the midfoot and the heel. The suede mudguard covers the lower half of the shoe for added durability. Classic Nike labels adorn the heel and tongue, while the cropped Swooshes on the sides arrive in vintage form.
Below, Nike used a thick PU foam carrier. It houses a visible Air Max unit in the heel – a first for the brand.
The shoe is finished off with a waffle traction pattern invented by Bill Bowerman, legendary track coach and Nike co-founder,
This fourth colourway retains the wavy mudguard. The greyish mesh base appears once more, while the black overlays boast a tried-and-tested design. The Swoosh on the sides and mini Swooshes on the forefoot arrive in Metallic Silver for a premium aesthetic.
Sail White midsole and Black/White outsole complete the bottom of the shoe.
Expect the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Black Metallic Silver” to release on the Nike website and other select retailers worldwide.
