Back like it never left! The iconic and most recognizable colourway of the coveted Nike Air Max 97 returns once more. The 2022 release of the Nike Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet” arrives for the first time since 2017 to celebrate the model’s 25th anniversary.

Throughout sneaker history, Nike Air Max silhouettes boasted unforgettable launch colourways to kick off the release. The likes of Air Max 90 “Infrared”, Air Max BW “Persian Violet”, and Air Max 95 “Neon” all became immortalised. The same thing can be said come 1997 when Nike designer named Christian Tresser worked on the Air Max 97.

When the shoe first released, people thought that the shoe took inspiration from Japanese bullet trains; hence the “Silver Bullet” name. But Christian Tresser also added that the Metallic Silver colourway was actually from his love for mountain bikes.

Aside from sleek Japanese bullet trains, natural ripples of water influenced the Air Max 97’s wavy panels on the upper. The wavy design forms around the upper sections, creating the effect.

Mini Swooshes make up the sides for a subtle look.

A first for the Air Max line, the Nike Air Max 97 featured the first full-length Air Max unit. It’s visible, rides high, and provides plenty of impact protection. It’s so great that the succeeding model utilised the exact midsole and outsole as the 97.

Completing the shoe is a modified waffle traction outsole.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary in the industry, the Nike Air Max 97 looks to start 2022 with two OG makeovers. Pairing up the “Atlantic Blue” from 1997 is none other than the ever-so-popular “Silver Bullet” 97.

Metallic Silver and White mesh and leather panels make up the upper. These come with reflective detailing just like before. Varsity Red accents hit the mini Swoosh on the sides and the tongue. The rest of the shoe flaunts in black.

Expect an early 2022 launch of this heat Nike Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet” on the Nike website.
