Nike‘s series dedicated to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) takes a moment to shine a light on Tennessee State University, a place held dear by the founders of famed pizza eatery, Slim & Husky’s. Made for fans of the legendary food joint and fans of the Italian delicacy in general, if you want to give your sneaker collection a wild upgrade this season, the Nike Terminator High “Slim & Husky’s Pizza” should definitely be on your radar.
The Slim & Husky’s Pizza-themed Terminator High draws directly from the university’s own colour scheme. Flaunting a base of subtle off-white leather, this sets the stage for the deep blue Swooshes that glide across the lateral and medial sidewalls – a tribute to the school’s official colours. If that wasn’t already eye-catching enough, the sneaker takes a bold turn with animal print overlays on the toebox and heel, a direct homage to TSU’s mascot and nickname, the Tigers, introducing a somewhat exotic aesthetic.
But the trainer does more than just sport school colours and mascots; it stands as a celebration of the university’s history and its notable accomplishments. Embroidered “1912” near the forefoot serves as a constant reminder of the year that the establishment was founded, highlighting its enduring presence in education. The collaboration is then further solidified with co-branded Nike and Slim & Husky’s tongue tags.
Around the back, an embroidered “T” stands proud, while the insoles bear a print that honours the Tigerbelles, the university’s celebrated women’s track and field team. The design concludes with a vibrant red outsole adding an unexpected splash of colour, and complementary white laces that tie everything together. The Nike Terminator High “Slim & Husky’s Pizza” FV2047-001 is expected to drop on November 4th.
