Despite the growing popularity of the Nike Dunk in the current era, Nike never forgets its true 80s heritage. Rocking a higher cut and a bulkier build, the Nike Dunk High 1985 takes it all the way back to its debut year; a period where Nike’s future forever changed thanks to the likes of the Nike Dunk and Air Jordan 1.

In 1985, Nike brought a flurry of new basketball models as they move on from 1982’s Nike Air Force 1. Among the most popular models is the Nike Dunk – which was almost named College Colour High. The Dunk term refers to the 40th anniversary of the first slam dunk in basketball, hence the origin story.

As a basketball shoe, the Nike Dunk first made waves in the collegiate hoops scene. Nike-sponsored schools equipped their athletes with Nike Dunks rocking two-tone colour blocking in their uniform colours.

The Nike Dunk High 1985 SP “Orange Acid Wash” is another “Acid Wash” release with the OG construction of the Nike Dunk High. Cream  leather makes up the base, with vibrant overlays consisting of Blue and Orange that give it a “washed effect”. Orange Swooshes and Blue laces keep the theme consistent.

A yellowing midsole blends with the yellowish upper for a vintage finish.

The Orange rubber outsole completes the shoe.
