The Air Jordan 4 Retro “Zen Master / Amethyst Wave” pays tribute to the legendary Chicago Bulls head coach Phil Jackson; who served as the architect to Michael Jordan and the Bulls’ Three-Peat, twice!
Out of all the Air Jordan 4s for 2022, this is one of the most surprising versions. Aside from the “tie-dye inspired” makeover, the upper uses a completely different material than the rest of the 4s. Either way, it’s going to be a real stunner for both men and women.
Introduced in 1989, the Air Jordan 4 followed up on the pivotal Air Jordan 3 with the return of Air Max cushioning. Legendary designer Tinker Hatfield wanted to pick up where the previous model left off, so he upgraded the overall look of the J4; to give them a distinct aesthetic of their own. While the Jordan 3 looked elegant with a simple leather upper headlined by elephant print overlays; the Air Jordan 4 gave us wings!
The most notable features of the Air Jordan 4 are the mesh netting on the sides and the TPU support wings. A TPU heel tab is a recognisable update as well.
The Air Jordan 4 Retro “Zen Master / Amethyst Wave” is a nod to Phil Jackson’s Zen philosophy; which he implemented to the teams he coached. Gradient fade hues varying from Pink and Purple make up the entirety of the canvas upper. The TPU wings and heel panel appear in translucent finishes for a subtle look.
A red Jumpman on the tongue compliments the rather unique colourway.
A Black midsole and Grey rubber outsole complete the design.
Set for a March 2022 release date, keep an eye out for this “therapeutic” trainer. Air Jordan 4s have been a popular choice lately because of the fire colourways.
